I have been in love with antiques ever since I can remember. My family had a small business running an antiques shop and I spent some time in there helping out over the summers. I just love the history and feel some of these gorgeous things have underneath the surface.
I am always daydreaming about mixing some of these beauties with a more modern style in my dream house. They just don't make art and furniture like that anymore nowadays. We cherish them and repair them, to make them look like new again. Somehow I doubt anyone will do that to some of the modern pieces we have as new today, one hundred or two years from now. They will probably just sit back and say: "what were they thinking?!"



 Why not use an old crystal chandelier above a  modern dining room table?



I adore these antique arm chairs, they look so classy and Downton Abbey-ish. And we all love Downton, don't we?

However, I am not too sure about the huge eyed pillow... I would leave it empty. Then my Beagle could climb on it for naps :)


Wow.. that is really an imaginative way to mix antique into a ver modern kitchen. I love the look! I only have one reservation though: it is probably hell to clean all those small wooden details. I wouldn't jump ahead and put it under my cooking area, or anywhere near it. In the dining room, however, that's a great idea!

Personally, I love candles. I have a few on almost every evening. For lack of a fireplace in my flat, when I have friends over, I always have a big bunch of candles on, one end of the table. Big and small, tall and short, all kinds.

And it's Christmas, everyone should have candles on during Christmas time. Have a magical night and get some inspiration from these beauties:

I'm getting way out of my antique-loving, historical look designs and furniture with this new post on futuristic looking bedrooms.
As cool as it looks, I can't help but feel that a round bed is terribly unpractical. I can just see myself falling off of it in the middle of the night...
I do love the idea of a clear glass wall shower/bathroom in the privacy of the bedroom. In that case, however, the toilet would have to be in a different room!
And the tunnel shaped one at the end of the post, except for the weird blue LED lights, I think it would be perfect for those who like to sleep like a bear in a cave!

No matter how modern or antique look a house or apartment has nowadays, the small details are so important. They are what make the viewer of the images imagine it as a real cosy home. A place where one can read on soft pillows, drink a warm cup of tea with a slice of cake, a place to snuggle with the warm, loving pet. Because pets are family members, too.
